Antonio Banderas's £2.4million Huf Haus Surrey

These photos inside the actor's stunning home, taken before he moved in, showcase the enchanting property. The prefabricated home, by German building firm Huf Haus, is an impressive design feat in wood and glass - and it's eco-friendly, too

The Mask of Zorro actor, who divorced ex-wife Melanie Griffith in December 2014, has moved to the UK with his Dutch-German girlfriend, an investment adviser, after selling the LA home he shared with his ex-wife for $16million (£11.4million).

Antonio, who recently starred in The 33 - a film about the Chilean miners who were trapped underground for 69 days in 2010 - with Juliette Binoche, is now commuting from his home in Surrey to study at the prestigious Central Saint Martins college in London - and has plans to launch his own fashion label.

" I am not a party person any more, so I have the space and peace to write and really get inside my own head - I am working on several scripts." said the Hollywood actor

The couple plan to stay in the house, which itself is 6,000 sq ft and set in a plot of over an acre, for the next five years. There is also a subterranean cinema room, four large receptions and a spa area with a sauna

Antonio was introduced to the home by his girlfriend's father, who previously owned two Huf Houses and found the Cobham property for Antonio and his daughter.

The couple plan to stay in the house, which itself is 557 metres squared and set in a plot of over an acre, for the next five years.

There is also a subterranean cinema room, where Antonio has reportedly spent time watching this year's Oscar nominated films – as a member of the Academy, he has to submit his recommendations for this year's winners - and a spa area with a sauna.

There are now about 200 Huf houses in the UK. The prefab homes have distinctive post-and-beam structures, eco friendly credentials and generous glazing.

The new Banderas home is a classic 'butterfly' split-roof three-storey model, with four large reception rooms and more than an acre of gently sloping gardens.

Inside, the beams are a classic black, and the interior design is a work in progress.

Banderas is so taken with his new home he now has plans to build a beachside Huf in Marbella.

The company deliberately restricts the number of houses built as the factory can put up only 200 homes a year, with just 20 to 30 of those in the UK.

Seen as the Rolls-Royce of Pop uP homes, Huf Haus prices start at about £500,000, before land costs. Once they have planning permission in place, customers are invited to Germany to choose everything from the size and layout of the rooms to light switches and bathroom tiles.

Factory production takes four months, after which the flat-pack home is shipped to the UK along with a team of German builders. Assembly of the shell takes a week or less, with the interiors (including electrics and plumbing) taking a further 12 to 14 weeks.
