Key Points 
  • In the first 27 months of the Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme (to 30 June 2015), 56,402 properties were bought with an equity loan.
  • The total value of these equity loans was £2.42 billion, with the value of the properties sold under the scheme totalling £12.18 billion.
  • The mean purchase price of a property bought under the scheme was £216,030, compared with a mean equity loan of £42,992.
  • Most of the home purchases in the Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme were made by First Time Buyers, accounting for 46,113 (82 per cent) of total purchases.
  • For the Help to Buy: NewBuy scheme, 12 home purchases were made in Q2 2015. This brings the total number of house purchases up to 5,717 since the launch of the scheme in March 2012
