The Death of Print Media , the Independent Newspaper doyen of British journalism , to print last paper edition in March 2016

Books, magazines, discs are no longer the primary or most profitable means of delivering and interacting with media: news, fact, entertainment, or education.
It’s not that print is bad. It’s that digital is better. It has too many advantages (and there’ll only be more): ubiquity, speed, permanence, searchability, the ability to update, the ability to remix, targeting, interaction, marketing via links, data feedback. Digital transcends the limitations of and >incorporates the best of>individual media.
More important than any of that, of course, is that digital reduces the incremental cost of production and distribution of content to zero. And as every print newspaper can tell you post double dip recession, It’s impossible to compete with major portals who have invested heavily over many years, whose brands are household names Zoopla Rightmove .
The keys to making the transition: Estateagents have realised that their customers are digital and that marketing online, in a post 2007 , must be cheaper and exponentially more efficient and effective.
Technology and connectivity advance every day, making content an everywhere experience. And print addicts will (sorry to be so blunt) die.
Note, all national dailys now make more online revenue, at the cost of its (reduced) newsroom  [making the boardroom happy or some cases worried], it's possible to produce the "paper" as a sustainable digital enterprise without the expense of creating and distributing a physical product.

The Independent British newspaper, launched in 1986 as a broad sheet, is to cease print editions in March, leaving only an online-edition, the owner has said.

Announcing the "digital-only" move, ESI Media said "some redundancies among editorial employees" would be made.
But it said there would also be 25 new "digital-content roles".

Evgeny Lebedev, ESI's owner, said: "This decision preserves the Independent brand and allows us to continue to invest in the high-quality editorial content that is attracting more and more readers to our online platforms."

The last print edition of the Independent will be published on Saturday 26 March, while the last Independent on Sunday will be on 20 March.
