The NextGeneration Annual Sustainability Benchmark 2015

NextGeneration is an annual sustainability benchmark of the 25 largest homebuilders in the UK. The benchmark enables homebuilders, Government, investors and the public to understand the sustainability of the homebuilders’ operations and the new homes they build.
The 2015 benchmarking report, administered by JLL and overseen by

executive committee members the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), has revealed that NextGeneration members, of which there are nine, are leading the homebuilding industry with an average sustainability score of 70 per cent, well above the industry average of 37 per cent.

NextGeneration is the only sustainable housing benchmark used by the majority of the UK’s largest homebuilders. Each year members are assessed on a wide range of criteria relating to high-quality, sustainable house-building, and are given an overall percentage score out of 100. This year Crest Nicholson demonstrated the best performance amongst all homebuilders by scoring 83 per cent. Barratt Developments and Lendlease took joint second place scoring 81 per cent
